I had a bit of time to kill between checking out and the taxi to the airport. I asked for a prompt on Twitter and @fdotleonora nudged me with her Flash Friday prompt. I reminded her that I don’t really do fiction but, maybe the sun got to me, I wrote the following.
He kept on glancing over at her. Not for long. He didn’t want it to be obvious that he was looking. She seemed totally unaware of anyone. Laid back, the light reflecting off her pale limbs as she reclined. There wasn’t an elegance in her pose and yet her light and form reminded him of a marble statue. He was almost surprised to see someone so pale laying in the bright sun.
He looked again and realised that she had ear buds in. Listening to what, he didn’t know but it seemed to have her full attention. She reclined, one hand at the small of her back, the other outstretched with her fingers making small gestures maybe in response to whatever she was listening to.
He grew bolder. No-one else was watching him and she had her eyes closed. He stopped looking away and studied her. There was such a contrast to the soft curves of her thigh, waist, belly and breasts and the way that they reminded him of marble. He wished that he could touch and let his fingers discover the truth of warm flesh of cold marble. He watched while he let his thoughts wander.
He realised that although she was still, there was something going on. As he stared, Her nipples puckered and goosebumps appeared on her skin. Her breathing was more obvious and yet appeared shallow. The tiny hairs on her arms were stood up. He looked further. Her beautiful rounded belly seemed to tense and relax. Her thighs were the same and he was sure her legs were more parted now. Suddenly he knew he wasn’t just looking, he was a voyeur in someone’s private moment. She might be lost in the world she was listening to but here he was, watching her responses.
He held his breath as he watched the tension build in her body. He would realise later that he was tensing in time with her. He needed to touch, he needed to speak but he knew that would break the spell so he just watched never wanting it to end.
But it did end. She shuddered, trembles and then sighed. A few moments later, she opened her eyes and went into her room from the balcony. She hadn’t looked around once.
He was left suddenly feeling bereft at her absence and unsure of what to do next. After taking a deep breath, he turned away and hoped he would see her another day.
Nicely done, especially in such a short time!
You should write more fiction, Honey. Love this!

A very tempting and well-written piece! Thanks for sharing. 😉
Like that – great use of the prompt
Well you definitely wrote it well. That urgency was lovely
