Writing ink is the magic that allows nothing to become something. It catches the fleeting idea and seeks out the glances of those who wish to see. Even a random ink splat will mean something to someone.

Writing has always been something that I have known can have power. There is something extra a out words that are made visible by the action of someone laying down ink onto a surface. It is no surprise to those who know a little of how my mind works to know that I have a special adoration for the power of writing on skin.

What can be better than having the words someone wants to give you deliberately inscribed on your skin. Those words are no casually tossed thoughts in a tumult of conversation, they are considered, chosen and formed by the strokes of the author placing the ink on your flesh.

Recently, I spent a few utterly glorious hours with the wonderful WildLens writing on each other. We started taking turns, although often not waiting and writing at the same time in a symphony of joyful expression as we wanted to cover each other with the powerful words that sum up each other. You can see the image of Wildlens here.

Then, in an act even more trusting, we let each other write on our backs. The intensity of the emotions that I felt during that are hard to capture in words. I have returned to this image many times since then to just reabsorb all those thoughts made into words.

Thank you, Wild Lens. I’m looking forward to more and more.

  2. Wonderful … wonderful photo … and lovely words.
I often get to write on (willing) recipients … but the words are normally less complimentary and definitely less empowering than your beautiful bodywork.
    Love this !!!
